I've just added a picks of 2000 page to my book review collection, which now contains 542 reviews.

Apart from the obviously techie stuff (computing and Internet stuff), there's good coverage of popular science, science fiction, and fantasy. And an awful lot of history and historical fiction.

And there's not a single image on the site - proof that a large (800+ page) site can be designed effectively without graphics.

And since you're here:

"but Designing Web Usability is a high quality, usable book - only a few minor things got past the proof-readers."

Such as? I'm considering buying the book.

1. This is a plug and inappropriate for K5

2. I do not really like your book reviews. I looked at a few Ian M Banks reviews and do not think 2 paragraphs constitute a book review of great merit.

some are short, yes (3.00 / 1) (#9)

Some of the reviews are pretty short, yes. But please look at more than one or two before judging the collection - the earlier reviews are shorter and (I think) less polished.

(I just put together a script to generate some hard numbers on this: the first hundred reviews averaged 200 words, while the most recent hundred averaged 430 words.)

As for the plug bit, I think that was covered in the editorial comments during moderation.

An extensive, high quality, selection of book reviews (covering 90+ tech/programming subjects) by the Association of C & C++ Users can be found at the following URL:

Over 2200 books are reviewed, with reviews indexed by subject, publisher, title, and author. This site also includes recomendations, and a search form.

I hope this is of use.
