The Exploding Coffeepot

I don't know what this means, but I had a meeting this morning, and just before we got started, out coffee pot exploded. I thought the snipers from the corporate extraction team had arrived, but that hasn't happened yet. Full story is below.

It's one of those thermal carafe deals, where the coffee brews directly into a thermos pot thing, which has a glass liner. So the coffee was brewed, and the carafe was sitting on the conference table (right next to me) when suddenly it went "POP!" and jumped a little. I nearly had a heart attack. I was about to hit the floor, because I thought the snipers from the corporate extraction team had arrived. But it was only the glass liner inside the thermal carafe spontaneously exploding. We opened it up, and there was a lovely coffee-and-ground-glass slush floating around inside the plastic shell.

Now, the coffee did suck, so no great loss there. But I believe firmly in Signs and Omens, and I can only see this as a bad thing. Time will tell.
