Most of you are aware that this site is running on software called Scoop, which is GPL and under constant development by yours truly. Well, I've been talking about it for a while, but I finally went and did it. The 0.4 tarball is out, which represents the last release before The Great Rewrite. From now on, new features will go in the new codebase, and I'll only do new releases of the 0.4 series for dire bugs. This is a great milestone, and I thank everyone who's given me ideas, suggestions, and feature demands. :-) See below for more info on where to get it.

Scoop development news can always be found at http://scoop.kuro5hin.org/. The freshmeat record is here, and the announcement should be up shortly. If you feel inclined to try new weblog software, give it a run around the block. :-)

Since the scoop engine is something that's really cool, and it runs this site, people should know about it.

Scoop 0.4.1 Released! (4.00 / 1) (#6)
by rusty on Sun Mar 05, 2000 at 03:20:42 PM EST

Ok, so I already kicked it up a patchlevel. :-)

There was a bug in search, and another one in the account confirm email, and some of the INSTALL instructions were wrong.

Damnit (from the tarball's README):
"-------------------------------------
Scoop 0.1 ALPHA (!!!!)
by Rusty Foster <rusty@kuro5hin.org>"

Wrong version!

And I see no CREDITS file with "Dylan <Dylan_G@bigfoot.com> suggested a great many features, and found some bugs"

:-P

Oops. I changed the version number in INSTALL, but forgot the README. So now we're at 0.4.2, with the updated README :-).

Credits are at the bottom of the README BTW.

It will be back as a box. Meanwhile, the link is still there, and the cam itself is always in the story Things I Learned From the RustyCam.
