This article in Salon takes a look at an amusing new web site that is a cross between a parody of the new economy business journal FastCompany and celebrity deathwatch, aptly named FuckedCompany. As explained on their rules page each member can choose up to 5 companies per week that they believe are doomed for failure and as bad news is released each news item is scored according to how damaging it is to the company involved and members are awarded points accordingly. For those who like to sell stocks short this is yet another way to revel in the fantastic dotcom failures.

It's nice to see some anti-hype about the tech market for once :)

Getting tired of this topic; it's getting beat into the ground by everybody, and while I understand this new site is making fun of the anti-hype, it whips me just as much.

Ah, how the day traders' eyes must water from the VDU glare of all the extra commentary they might need to read. Having said that, shortsellers in this market are maybe more likely to be caught out by news events than at any time, given the increasing weight of retail turnover in stock. News events and commentary ought to be simultaneously correlated with key ratios and fundamentals, to test its validity. I think the story is worth thinking about. If the latterday internet is just a staging post in the wild west of widespread networks, then remember it is only a staging post. I am sure the "clearance" of any number of boom IPO's will be a key event prior to further substantial development, as opposed to brazen commercialisation.

My suggestion is to have a completely separate queue for submitting MLP, items from which could be displayed as a list of headlines in a sidebar box.

Great site, laughing my ass of. I'm having a great time when yet another Internet DotCom soapbubble bursts. Here in Holland we had an ISP who wanted to "go to the stockmarket" (don't know the exact English term for it), but the CEO sold all her shares just before that. So the share prices behaved like Mars Polar landers :) Sometimes my confidence in humanity is a little restored.

The world is more and more about money these days; we haven't seen the worst part yet. I couldn't care less about money, I don't want to be rich - as long as I have something to eat, some clothes to wear and books & computers to play with, I'm happy.
