This morning the first preliminary details of the Association of C & C++ Users 2002 Spring Conference where announced.

Although a location is still to be confirmed, the conference is will take place from the 3rd to the 6th of April, and speakers look set to include big names such as Bjarne Stroustrup, inventor of C++, Lucent's Jim Coplien, and Andrei Alexandrescu, author of Modern C++ Design. But its not all C++ ...

According to Francis Glassborow, the conference will be addressing "a broad range of programming/development including coverage of C#, Java and Python".

Its interesting to note that while the organisers would like to provide coverage of C, they are having problems finding people to speak, so if you consider your self an expert, consider putting yourself forward, by contacting the conferences organiser

Not much to talk about (3.20 / 5) (#4)
by Carnage4Life on Wed Jul 25, 2001 at 06:13:30 AM EST

If I had read the link before voting I probably would have voted -1 instead of +1. Besides an impressive list of speakers (Nicolai Josuttis, Stan Lippman, Gabriel Dos Reis, w00t!!!) there isn't much of anything.

No location, no titles of keynotes, no schedule of lectures, no gist of the topics that will be covered etc. I'd have waited till there were more details before submitting this.

Does there always need to be? (none / 0) (#5)

I don't think that everything that's news worthy has to be discussion worthy. Its of interest because people may way to note the date in their calendar, or even put themselves forward to speak on C.

The location may not be confirmed yet, but you can be confident that it will be in Oxford (England).

Yes, there does (2.00 / 1) (#10)

Discussion is what K5 is about; that is why I emigrated from that other site to K5.
